Configuring TotalCommander for use with EasyCloud.us FTP
I love TotalCommander and don't know how I ever got any work done before I started using it! But, Total Commander is much much more than just a FTP client. If all you need is FTP then I suggest using FileZilla which is free and works well with EasyCloud.us hosting.
Download latest TotalCommander version HERE
Install the file you downloaded. It will go in your C:\ Root and put a TotalCommander (TC) shortcut on your Desktop .
I. How to configure TC ftp to work with EasyCloud.us server security.
1. In TotalCommander top menu, choose Configuration > Change settings files directly

2. This will open up two (2) NotePad documents. One is windmd.ini and the other is WCX_FTP.INI.

3. Make sure you CLOSE the wincmd.ini file and ONLY CHANGE the WCX_FTP.INI file.
4. I*n the wcx_ftp.ini file, find the section named [General] add the following line below it:
SpecialFlags=128
It will look something like (but may not look exactly like) this:

5. Save.
6. Close and re-open Total Commander
II. Go into the "Configuration" section and set things up...
First you can change the background colors. Go to "Configuration" > Options > Display > Color. There you can click the arrows and choose colors that you like.

Here is how I have my FTP basic setup. I have it set to always open up servers in the right panel or it can get confusing because without that the server will open in the side you have active.
General FTP Settings

While you are here you can look at the other setting areas. You will see that the Packer area is for zip and compression... yes you don't need a separate zip program, it's built into TC!
Click "OK" and you will save and leave Options area.
III. TotalCommander Overview
Here is a description of the general areas of TC:
Basic Areas

You can use either side to navigate anywhere on your computer.... You can drag and drop files from one side to the other.
If you are logged into a server on one side you can move and edit files exactly the same.
Two Sides
| Left-Side | Left-Side | Left-Side | Left-Side | Left-Side | | Right-Side | Right-Side | Right-Side | Right-Side |

Moving in and out of folder, bookmarking, and your movement history (breadcrumbs)

Buttons on bottom are quick ways of doing things... Like the F5 Copy button will copy a file from one side to the other, even if the other side is ftp server. All buttons work on your computer or server. F4 Edit will open the document in NotePad.

IV. TotalCommander's FTP
Files > Change Attributes is how you CHMOD files when using FTP. When you are logged into a server, highlight the file you want to CHMOD then go here to set the files' access level:
CHMOD

How To FTP
(1) Find FTP Icon in button bar and click it:

(2) Click on "New Connection".

(3) Enter your FTP info (If for EasyCloud.us SSL/TLS must be checked):
(4) Click "OK" and this will be listed as one of your connections.
(5) Either Double-Click connection name, or highlight it and click "Connect".
If you set FTP to open on Right, the right side will now be your server.
V. Other Useful Functions
This button is a "Comparison Tool". It is not as good as CompareIt! program but what I like about it is it will compare a file on your computer with one on your server with the same name!
Search will work for what ever directory you are in, on your computer OR on your server! If you search on your server it downloads a temp copy of the files to your temporary directory to do the search but it's very helpful. It can search for either file names or words within a file or for files from a data range, etc. Pretty cool.
Zip/UnZip. TotalCommander also compresses and uncompresses files so you don't need other programs to do this. It uses all the most popular formats including ZIP, RAR, GZ and TAR.
TotalCommander does way more than I just showed you here. I like to say... If you every say to yourself "Man I wish TC would do X." Well, it probably does and you just haven't found out how to do it yet :D
Enjoy your new play toy!
